Divided views on internet security from SME home workers
For the majority of small business home workers internet security is one of the most pressing concerns they have. Having said that, it is worrying how high the figure is for people who do not worry about it.
In a survey by UK online (broadband provider), 65.7% of small businesses were anxious about the security of the internet when working from home. Whilst this is the majority, it is surprising that it is not higher when SMEs are victims of security incidents more frequently then larger companies, and often the consequences are much more serious for them.
Irrelevant emails is another problem for home workers with 48% of small businesses stating this was the biggest frustration of the internet for them. The challenge for them is how to manage the emails so it does not cut into valuable work time.
